A unique and fascinatingly exotic blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, and Chardonnay. Growing on north-facing slopes, the Marsanne contributes incredible freshness, minerality, and an elegance comparable to that of a white Hermitage. The Roussanne lends vibrant acidity and scents of verbena, citronella, and honeysuckle. Eloï Dürrbach likens his addition of Chardonnay to adding salt and pepper to a dish. Before his death in 2000, Eloï’s father René painted a series of 50 posters which have since served as the labels for the estate’s wines. Each year, the family selects the poster that best reflects the characteristics of the vintage.
René Dürrbach purchased Domaine de Trevallon in 1955, while he was running around Provence with Picasso, Léger, and other celebrated artists. In the early ‘70s, his son Eloï began planting Bordeaux varieties on their property, producing the estate’s first wine in 1976. Since the the creation of the Les Baux de Provence AOC appellation, Eloï still labels his wines IGP, refusing to adapt his blend to the new AOC regulation.
