Importer's Notes:
Fine mouse, very persistent. Expressive nose with fresh, floral aromas. The palate is discrete, a wine of great balance and finesse. Elegant, refreshing finish.
The Braun family can trace its presence in Alsace back to 1583. Since then, generations of farmers and wine growers have followed one another. The Braun family seat was established in Orschwihr in 1902, with the purchase of a 17th Century farmhouse. Located in south-central part of Alsace, midway between Colmar and Mulhouse, Orschwihr has been famous for the quality of its wines since the middle ages. In 1960, Camille Braun took over the family farm and began to focus exclusively on wine production and selling his own production in bottle. Beginning with 2.5 hectares, the domaine has now grown to 13 hectares of vineyards in and around Orschwihr and Uffholtz. Camille’s son Christophe took over the family business in 1987 and today runs the domaine with his ever-so charming wife, Chantal .
With 90% of the domaine’s production sold directly to loyal private customers, there is precious little available for sale beyond western Europe. While Crémant sales are surging in France, they are just beginning in the U.S. We felt we couldn’t pass these up and were able to convince Chantal to let us import a quantity for to the States. Quantities are limited, but then most good things are. We are now pleased to present the exceptional Crémant d’Alsace by Domaine Camille Braun to the U.S. market.
