Pinot Noir (65%) and Pinot Meunier, with 35% Reserve wines and a dosage of 10g/L. Pale gold with straw highlights. The nose evokes a basket of fruits: raspberries, currants, cherries and white fruits (nectarine, peach, pear). Tender and ample in the mouth, almost velvety, it rises gradually in power around earthy and structured notes.
The Montaudon family entered the Champagne trade in 1891 with Auguste-Louis, a cellar master at Epernay. His son Auguste-Eugéne founded Maison Montaudon, cementing a passion for Champagne deeply within the family’s traditions. The firm rose in stature, enjoying its first golden age in the heady tumult of the Golden Twenties in Paris. Auguste-Eugene’s son Philippe developed a network of close partnerships with exceptional family growers, and the wines soared in popularity. Josephine Baker even signed an exclusive contract with Montaudon in 1936 to provide Champagne for her Parisian cabaret.
With the firm’s character rooted in 350 hectares of vineyard sites spread over the length and breadth of Champagne, Champagne Montaudon is crafted by families of passionate winegrowers supported by a vinicultural department that includes three highly proficient oenologists. These are Champagnes steeped in authenticity, exciting representations of the terroir at these exceptional, meticulously maintained family vineyards. Montaudon’s signature enthusiasm for black grape varieties has yielded an exciting variety of rounded, fruity, delicious Champagnes with unbridled generosity. These are wonderfully accessible wines.
