Vartsikhe Marani is an artisan winery in the Imereti region of western Georgia near the Black Sea, where the cooler climate yields a lower alcohol wine. Created from 25-year-old vines of Saperavi (Georgia’s most important red grape variety), this organic wine, fermented with indigenous yeasts, is made in Qvevri: buried clay amphorie. Bottled unfiltered, the wine is crisp, fruity and easy drinking.
